We noted when run off the thermostat on a lower setting, the flames are much lower when the unit kicks back in. The logs are set loose as opposed to some other companies that have them set on posts. The long horizontal logs are half width. Overall, they look okay. What is nice is they do not smell when first used like some other companies. It throws out okay heat. The intent is for us to also use this as a heat backup if power goes out. An issue we had was the piezo igniter did not light the gas because the ignitor was set too low and needed to be raised. Fixing this was not an issue for me but should be done correctly in the first place. Great value – logs look real. I looked at several of these on-line and in person. This was what we settled on. I feel it’s a fair deal. The logs look real. For a vent-free, the flame is decent. Obviously, vented sets look more real, but we really like the heat we’re getting from this vent-free set – as well as putting some moisture back into the air. Converting the set from the default/factory-set propane to natural gas was SUPER simple. I couldn’t get the pilot to light. The instructions were clear that if this happens – and you’re on natural gas, you’ll likely have to back a small screw out a couple of turns, which did the trick.
